October Plant of the Month: Bronze Fennel

Foeniculum vulgare ‘Rubrum’

Whether you are interested in feathery foliage texture, culinary herbs, or pollinator plants, you might consider adding bronze fennel to your garden. This perennial herb has graduated to the border where it complements pink, white, and blue flowers. Its fresh foliage is an addition equally welcome in fresh salads or poaching liquid for fish, and its fall bonus is its tasty seeds. Rounding out the benefits of bronze fennel is the pollinator aspect as a host plant for the black swallowtail butterfly. Bronze fennel might be just what your garden needs.
