Urban Oasis
This lovely Urban Oasis garden in one of Mobile's historic districts is the former home of a local architect. Mature citrus trees, palms, native plants, herbs, vegetables and more blend harmoniously with hardscaped areas surrounding the pool and the front entrance. Twisted ligustrum trees alongside the pool provide pleasing greenness and neutral planters beneath are filled with bright splashes of color. Pergolas and lattice/ wood fencing afford privacy and support for a thriving combination of plants. Birdfeeders accent and an inviting swing beckons. Elevated flower boxes filled with coleus and vinca in the front of the home enhance the windows bordered with boxwood. Containers throughout greet visitors with a mix of flowering annuals, perennials and cooling ferns. Beauty is not the only goal - thoughtfully placed plants support pollinators for vegetables and fruit. This garden is truly soothing and restorative!
